Syncing a Node to the Soarchain Testnet from a Snapshot

This guide outlines the process for quickly syncing a node to the Soarchain testnet by utilizing a snapshot. This method is a shortcut that bypasses the conventional, more time-consuming sync processes.

Prerequisites

Ensure you have followed the initial steps for setting up your node, including the installation and configuration of Cosmovisor. Important: Do not start your node immediately after configuring Cosmovisor.

Download and Extract Snapshot

Kjnodes Validator provides snapshots for the Soarchain testnet community. These snapshots are state-synced periodically, meaning they offer a compact size at the expense of not containing the full historical data. This trade-off results in faster sync times.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Download Snapshot: Access the Soarchain Testnet Snapshot provided by kjnodes to download the latest available snapshot.

  2. Extract Snapshot: After downloading, you'll need to extract the snapshot into your node's data directory. The extraction command depends on the snapshot's format. A common command for a .tar.gz file is shown below:

    tar -xvf snapshot.tar.gz -C /path/to/your/node/data

Start Cosmovisor
